An exciting inclusion in this week’s community meeting and SDDCA AGM is a presentation on the potential delivery of a community facilities Precinct for Sippy Downs.
Last Friday SDDCA Representatives had the opportunity to meet with Steve Dickson MP for Buderim, Cr Christian Dickson, Landowner Ben Crosby and James Brownsworth from Innovative Planning Solutions onsite to take a look at this proposed development for Sippy Downs.
The Crosby family are seeking to develop this land as they understand the need for community focused land and facilities that have historically never been provided for in and around the Sippy Downs area.
Currently under negotiation with Sunshine Coast Council this development has the potential to deliver much needed sports fields and community facilities for the Sippy Downs area and based upon the information provided to us thus far the SDDCA supports this project going ahead while simultaneously seeking community feedback over the coming weeks leading up to a formal submission to SCC.
A full presentation will be delivered at this Wednesday nights community meeting and AGM.

This morning the Avid Property Group officially opened Peter Crosby way which is the brand new connection road into Harmony at Palmview.
It has been some 15 years since Palmview was originally envisaged and today marks one step closer to delivery of this brand new master planned community at the very Heart of the Sunshine Coast.
The Sippy Downs and district community association and the volunteers that have driven it along for the past 13 years played an integral part in ensuring that this development had the best possible balance with the least possible negative impact upon the Sippy Downs community.
Councillor Christian Dickson from Division 6, Sunshine Coast Council said of this brand new opening ” This is a fantastic new residential community right in the heart of the Sunshine Coast providing over 20 hectares open space for recreational purposes forming part of the total 100 hectares of open space for the community. This will serve as further community access areas for the existing Sippy Downs community and will provide many new road access points both North to the Sunshine Motorway and South to the Caloundra interchange at Caloundra Road and direct access to the Bruce Highway so in terms of Road access this is good for the community.”
The community association would like to thank have a property group for inviting us to attend and we look forward to forging strong relationships between the entire Palmview community and the Sippy Downs community as a whole.
Sippy Downs Resident’s Association AGM delivers a unique historical and future snap shot of this thriving area
Mr Warren Bunker – SCC – Speaker SDDCA AGM 2016
29 September 2016
The Sippy Downs and District Community Association (SDDCA) 2016 AGM was held last night with invited guest speakers delivering a unique snapshot of the extensive range of both residential and commercial development history and growth in Sippy Downs over the last 20 years and where this once open pastureland is headed into the future.
Designed to give the community the best possible access to key community stakeholders the SDDCA Annual General meeting delivered the perfect opportunity for residents to meet, greet and talk with guest speakers, Andrew Wallace MP, Federal Member for Fisher; Mark Asang, Department of Transport & Main Roads; Cr Christian Dickson; Anthony Demiris, AVID Group; John Morgan, Coles Group Property, Iona Beauly, University of the Sunshine Coast; Sgt Steve McDonald, Sippy Downs Police and Warren Bunker, Director of the Planning and Environment, Sunshine Coast Council. Updates were provided on the Bruce Highway upgrade, the Harmony development (Palmview East), local policing issues and numerous local council projects. A comprehensive slide presentation featured the Sippy Downs Town Centre and the community was brought up to date with the development of the new Coles supermarket on Sippy Downs Drive.
Incoming SDDCA President Matthew Druce said, “The SDDCA would like to thank all of the community members who attended the meeting and the speakers who attended. As highlighted by our speakers, Sippy Downs has grown from pasture land to what is now considered by many as the heart of the Sunshine Coast born of it’s central geographic location making the beaches or the bush and the travel North or South via the Bruce Hwy equally accessible. With projects like the Bruce Highway Upgrade and Palmview Development delivering improved roads, connectivity and local amenities Sippy Downs and District has reason to celebrate”
Mr Druce said, “Of course current local growth and that over the last 10 years has and will present challenges for the local community however the commitments and organisational plans presented tonight by our speakers highlight a clear and sincere commitment to the local community, its needs and its residents. We look forward to working pro actively with tonight’s speakers into the future to ensure that the SDDCA’s commitment to foster a sense of identity and civic pride in, to represent the best interests of and to protect the environment and lifestyle enjoyed by residents and ratepayers ensuring as community advocates we swiftly act upon those developments and decisions which would impact upon either our community as a whole or upon individual residents within our community.
We look forward to working closely with Cr Christian Dickson over the coming months to definitively explore and address school parking issues at Scholars Drive, Sippy Downs by ensuring all stakeholders to this longstanding community issue are clearly identified and invited to seek a collaborative solution to this challenge”
