Overview of The Proposed Peter Crosby Community Facilities Precinct – SDDCA

Overview of The Proposed Peter Crosby Community Facilities Precinct – SDDCA

Following our initial meeting on site for this proposed development and the subsequent presentation given at the Association’s AGM on the 13th of September 2017 we have put together the following overview as a follow public presentation to the wider community to give a broader understanding of the proposed Peter Crosby community facilities precinct location, inclusions and deliverable benefits.

At this point in time the association fully endorses further exploration for the delivery of this project and is seeking community feedback.

As per our previous release on this topic The Association believes that Sippy Downs very much needs community facilities like this that have been lacking in and around Sippy Downs for many years.

We believe that this development has the potential to deliver these long overdue and much needed community facilities and will be contacting Sunshine Coast Council representatives this coming week to seek their position and to further explore any potential obstacles that may impede the delivery of this development.

Please share with us your views and perspectives via social media or contact us via email at info@sippydowns.org.au

Returning SDDCA President Matthew Druce said, “The SDDCA would like to thank all of the community members and VIP Guests who attended the meeting along with the evening’s speakers.

While we value all of the speakers and topics covered, of special interest to us as a community representative and advocacy body is the announcement of the proposed community facilities precinct presented by James Brownsworth on behalf of the Crosby family. This development has the potential to deliver long overdue and much needed community facilities. We will be investigating, exploring and seeking feedback from the community, together with council’s position on this proposal over the coming weeks and months.”

Mr Druce went on to say, “Sippy Downs was poorly planned and delivered but after 10 plus years we may just be on the precipice of seeing some of the biggest oversights delivered. Thanks to the commencement of the expanding Sippy Downs Town Centre, Cr Christian Dickson is now able to explore funding opportunities for the delivery of a library and meeting room facilities. Delivery of the proposed community facilities in these two precincts would see Sippy Downs residents enjoying facilities afforded to other master planned communities.

“We are fortunate to have a strong working relationship with Councillor Christian Dickson and the SDDCA is now calling on residents to learn more about the development proposal on the Crosby land (which includes land dedicated to sporting fields, community buildings and a community garden) and support the Association in our approach to council planning staff.”

More information including detailed maps will be able to be viewed on our website when we release detailed information tomorrow.

Official Release Date: 14 September 2017

SDDCA AGM 2017 – Follow Up

The SDDCA will also be publishing more detailed updates on other information presented on the evening over the coming week however not all information from the night is approved by the relevant speakers for public release beyond the SDDCA AGM 2017 format and attendees.

It is for this very reason that the SDDCA strongly urges community members to stay up to date with community meeting opportunities to ensure they are as informed as possible.

Coles Tour 4/11/16

Coles Construction update

Last Friday SDDCA President Matt Druce and Secretary Jo Jenkins had the opportunity to take a tour inside the brand new Coles Sippy Downs store along with Steve Dickson the state member for Buderim and also Julie Preston from the 4556 Chamber of Commerce.

The decision by Coles to develop this brand new store here in Sippy Downs is a massive win for the area sparking on supermarket competition and leading the way in bringing the long awaited Sippy Downs Town Centre One Step Closer to reality.

Open market style fruit and vegetables area

As you can see in the photos within this post the store offers a crisp clean shopping experience including an open market style fruit and vegetables area the moment you walk in the door, a beautiful open plan bakery area, delicatessen and a whole lot more on to offer as the store comes together over the coming months.

Following the internal store tour we all ventured around to the rear of the premises and took a look at the new street frontage for the land allocated to community for the development of a community space into the future. We will provide more information on the 1500 square meters of community land in the new year.

Sippy Downs Parks Master Plan – Project News and Survey

Sippy Downs Parks Master Plan – Project News and Survey

Sippy Downs residents here is you chance to truly have your say about future parks upgrades for the entire area.

This is an absolutely fantastic opportunity for local residents to actively take part in providingSunshine Coast Council and in turn Cr Christian Dickson – Division 6 the information they need to deliver future improvements to parks in Sippy Downs, Queensland that are truly needed and wanted.

It is essential that as local residents we all take part in this survey to ensure that the upgrades to be included in this Master Plan are truly representative of community needs and wants.

We are very excited to not only see these upgrades on their way but thrilled to see the consultation for this master plan being delivered in a way that is truly collaborative, inclusive and available to each and every local resident including mail outs to residents letterboxes for those who do not use social media or local news and information websites.

Been wanting an upgrade to your local park? The more responses you harvest for your local park the greater the likely hood of it’s inclusion in the final plans so share this post as widely as possible.
